Finally getting round to posting some pictures

panorama

panorama,
originally uploaded by DanFreedman.

Since a lot of other people seem to be using Flickr these days to share their photos online, I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and see what’s what. This is a pic taken on a walk I took last Wednesday from Downham in Lancashire to Sawley Abbey. I’m making this blog entry via Flickr itself so let’s see what it looks like :-)

H’mmm….. not too bad…. posing a blog entry via Flickr doesn’t add a category to the entry, so I have to go back and do that manually… clicking on the pic takes you to the Flickr set… let me know if I need to tidy anything up – this is the first time I’ve played with Flickr!

Spring is springing!

The sun is shining, the air is warm (for a change), the lambs are jumping about like little Zebedees, and all is well in my version of the world. I got all active today, cycling nearly 7 miles this morning and walking a couple of miles this afternoon, before going to get my parents from the airport. I sooooooooo hope we’re going to have a good summer this year…

Alright sunbeam?

Hollingworth Lake, on a grey Sunday lunchtime. I went for a walk round the lake with my sister-in-law and niece, hoping to do a couple of circuits. We’d been round the lake before, and always thought it was about three, three and a half miles, something like that. We were very disappointed today to find that it was only 2.3 miles, so we’ve had to downgrade the trip round the lake from “had a good workout” to “had a mild stroll”. In the end my niece didn’t want to go round again, so we only did the one circuit. Ah well, better than nowt, anyroad. Click on the image for a full (189k) version.

Fantastic view….

Here are a couple of pics a mate sent me. I’ve no idea if they are copyright or not, but I thought they were so great I had to share them here. Wish I’d taken them myself though! The first pic was taken from the Columbia shuttle on one of its orbits, and the second is, well, it’s a picture of a hurricane. I’ve no idea which one I’m afraid. As usual, click on the thumbnail for a fill-size version.

Arachnophobes look away now

Back in…… ooh, March or April this year it must have been, I splashed out on a digital camera, a Canon A70, for those that need to know such things. I’ve taken oodles of pictures with it since then, and will post some of my favourite arty-farty ones here for your delight and delectation.
First off, a spider in my parent’s garden. I’ve no idea what type of spider it is, but I do know that the previous week I caught it eating lunch. Unfortunately (or not, depending on your point of view), I didn’t have my camera with me that day.

And before you ask, no…. I don’t record all those details about every pic I take… the camera does all that for me. Good, innit?
