Original Month End Post Reposted

General News Comments Off

I’ve just uploaded the month end gedcom and I must admit not a lot has been added – Please could someone out there motivate me to do more research – I’ve been very lazy the last few months maybe this is because nobody is sending information or giving me some pointers as to which families I should be looking at (PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE – send me your names that are not all complete)

I’m still working on the Beare/Laserson information that I received but it’s slow going only on page 29 out or 44 maybe by the end of the month it will all be done

Next update towards the middle of the month hopefully

Just a short post to say that we are now 3 days into the new year and have been receiving replies over the last day or so – as people can’t actually post to the blog on their own I have and will continue to post them on their behalf

It really is nice to be getting feedback and we really appreciate your comments – so keep them coming – we have 99 members who have accounts to view the online tree and we know that not everyone logs in regularly – just remember that if you don’t log in fully then you only get to see information on those people who are no longer living – once again if you’ve forgotten you log in details then email Sylvia and you can have them sent out again

Please let me see some of you logging in or you will be sent another reminder asking if you still want to be part of this living history of your ancestors

That’s all I have to say for now – watch this space for further updates as and when they happen

Year End Gedcom & General Updates

Gedcom 3 Comments

Happy new year to everyone

The year end gedocm has just been uploaded with lots of additions and amendments

Thanks to Chris Milton in New Zealand who sent me a rather large pdf file with Beare/Lazerson family on it – although still plodding through it there is now a lot of information on this family now on the online tree – it would be nice if those of you related to this side would have a look at it and let me know if there is anything else that needs adding or amending

Again this year our aim is to fill in as much information as possible for every person on the tree so please check your own individual families and again let me have full information on the following if it is missing (date of birth and where born ie hospital name or home address – barmitzvah/batmitzvah date and where the event took place – date and place of marriage again synagogue or elsewhere – date of death if applicable and where buried) that about sums up all the details that are required

We always need documents as well these can be birth marriage/kettubot death certificates etc – anything else ie naturalization papers or anything along those lines and finally a lot of the pictures we have are now very much out of date and could do with updating – please scan everything at the best resolution as we can sort them out at this end – and send to bryansyl@gmail.com

Thanks need to be given again to those who regularly contribute and to Danny and Simon Freedman who without them this tree would not be possible as they are the behind the scenes men – Hyam Freedman for maintaining our picture section he really has a good eye for detail and ensures that all is of the best quality – Paul Traynor our man in America who is a great help for getting death certificates from there for us and headstone pictures of  those family who have passed away and are buried in various cemeteries across the United States  - and finally Liz Knopf who is always on hand to help with reseach

I think I’ve covered everything and lets hope that this year our tree will keep growing as it’s a living history for our future generations of where there ancestors came from all those years ago

Hopefully the next update will be towards the middle of the month – if not at the end as usual

This is comment I received from Irvine Caplan

    Hello Sylvia.

I think that what you are doing is terrific & I am sure everyone who is
directly or indirectly associated with the “Family Tree” feels the same way.

Maureen & I have just returned from Australia after a visit to see our first
grandchild Charlie who you have already placed on one of the branches and
this week we are going to Spain for a few weeks.

When we return I would really like to meet you and perhaps on one of your
visit’s to Boothstown you could pop into our cottage in Worsley which goes
back slightly further than “The Tree” 1723 and there is always tea/coffee or
    even something stronger at hand.

Kindest regards and best wishes for 2011
