Google Earth Update WE NEED YOUR HELP – Please take time to read the blog for details

General News, Google Earth 1 Comment

By now you all know that I’ve been asking Danny to update Google Earth – well he’s just found a new and interesting Google Earth addition (all will be revealed in the new year) but in the meantime we really need your help in trying to establish the full and correct place details for every event for each person in the tree

Some place name we have are in no way complete – what we would like you to do is spend a little time looking at your own families and check that the place of birth for each person is fully complete ie not just at home or hospital – we need the full addresses – this also applies to marriages ie the fully name of the shool and which road and town – the same goes for burials ie full cemetery details including the road and town

below are some of the places that we need the extra information for – if any of these are familiar to you please let us have the full details – (please email them to iamsylvia@btinternet.com)

Bangalow

Israel, Schneider Children’s Hospital

Israel, Sde Gat, Kibbutz Negev

Westmead

On the South Coast of England

Lithuania, Wilkomer

The Middlesex Regiment

Memorial Hospital

If we can get these sorted out it would be a great help

We will be doing a year end update that might be just before year end or just into new year – depend on my timing it right – so watch out for the next blog posting

As we are a multi-cultural family tree we would like to wish those of you who will be celebrating -  A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – this is only fair as all our Jewish Contingent get their holiday greetings at the appropriate times

Thanks for the Merry Christmas wishes… Holidays are really a time to share in the spirit of the celebration, if not in the actual meaning. Happy New Year to everyone from Kathy and me, and all our family.

End of month gedcom and Google Earth

Google Earth Comments Off

The gedcom is up to date as promised and now included amendments for families up to and including Levison
There is still the problem with some of the pictures not being shown correctly and this is being worked on so hopefully by the time the next gedcom is done all will be correct
We have added some more places to Google Earth although only a few they include Blackpool and Southport – hopefully more to come
During the coming weeks we are hoping to update information on the Larah side and also the Goldwater’s – notification of these will be posted here
keep watching this space for more info as it happens

Google Earth and Gedcom Update

Google Earth Comments Off

Danny has been good and added some more places to the Google Earth File – most the Manchester area so that our new members can see more of where their ancestory settled. There are some street names that have 1 or more address where people were living but the plotting on google earth is the same (really it’s so you can see the street and area rather than the dwelling itself)
The gedcom has also been updated to include the google earth details to the online tree is now as upto date as is humanly possible
Keep watching this space as more places are plotted on Google Earth

Google Earth Upgrade to Version 4 – Go Get It!!!!

Google Earth Comments Off

Google Earth is very exciting now
I heard that there was an upgrade available so i went online to the site and then went to help on the tool bar and then to about and sure enough I had version 3 upgradeable to version 4 so I gave it ago
There are lot more new features but the best i think is that you can now take a tour – this is great cos from all the places we have plotted on there from the Freedman Tree you jut go to the place list on the left and hit the button play tour-and it takes you from 1 place to another alphabetically-you can stop the tour at any point then explore the area as before
I would really recommend that you go and upgrade to the latest version-it’s great fun

Tree and Google Earth update

Google Earth Comments Off

The online tree was updated on monday night and this evening Danny has add some more place to Google Earth which I’m led to believe are in the London area of the UK and some in Lancashire
Now that all the Yom Tovim are over we will try and do updates more regularly
Those of you who have still not furbished us with Barmitzvah dates and place as requested previously please do so as soon as possible (and you know who you are) there are still a lot missing
As to Google Earth if you know of any place we haven’t plotted yet and you would like to see it again please let us know
Pictures and documents can still be added and should be scanned and emailed to either Hyam or myself or if you want to post them directly to Hyam he will return them as soon as possible
Please remember as mentioned time and time again ‘it’s you tree as well as ours’ so help us to help you trace where your ancestors originated from
Keep watching this space for updates
