You may have noticed that the blog now looks completely different – this is because we’ve upgraded the blogging program behind the scenes to the latest version. However, in doing so, we’ve lost the links that used to be on the menu on the right; links to the online tree and the gedcom files. To get round this, temporarily, until I can work out how to put it back on the menus, use the links here:

As we research the family tree, we come across web sites and pages that contain interesting information, some of which may be directly related to genealogy, and some of which might provide some more general background information. As and when we get a handful of these, we’ll post them here so we all know where they are.
First off, some articles about counties and place names in the UK, a subject which has caused some debate and head-scratching over here recently. Just how do you work out what an address was at the time a particular event took place, when that place keeps moving from one county to another?
